Some, usually lower end, cameras come with DirectShow drivers which allow Imspector to drive them using a genericdriver. The driver is tested with the following models:

mvBlueFox (Matrix Vision)

The mvIMPACT acquire driver is a common driver that Matrix Vision uses, if I'm not mistaken. There is a reference to the Genicam in the Matrix Vision code. Here is the reference to Genicam.

Produced by Matrix Vision. Please install the appropriate driver from Matrix vision and test the camera using thesoftware that comes with it before trying to use it with Imspector. In order to use the DirectShow driver you have to run the Matrix Vision configuration tool (mvDeviceConfigure.exe). Here you can set the DirectShow friendly name (the name which will show up in Imspector) and you HAVE TOregister the device (in the Menu, there is a DirectShow entry that allows you to do this). If you have an x64 system you have to do this separately for x64 and x86 by running both the 32bit and 64bit version of the configuration utility.

  1. Created by potrace 1.15, written by Peter Selinger 2001-2017.
  2. Successfully installed MATRIX VISION driver from the MATRIX VISION Driver CD (Windows: version 1.11.49 or higher, Linux: version 1.9.12 or higher). Windows: HALCON image acquisition interface hAcqMatrixVisionAcquire.dll or hAcqMatrixVisionAcquirexl.dll, respectively.
  3. Generic Box Finder. In HALCON 19.11, a new functionality for pick and place applications is available: The generic box finder allows the user to find boxes of different sizes based on 3D space, eliminating the need to train a model for each required box size.
  4. GENICAMGENTL64PATH=C: Program Files LeutronVision Simplon bin cti;C: Program Files MATRIX VISION mvIMPACT acquire bin;C: XIMEA GenTL Producer x86 Each directory that you list in the environment variables must contain a DLL file that has a.cti extension and that exports the standard C functions that are expected for a GenTL producer.

A (not necessarily up-to-date) version of the drivers can be found here: (32bit) and (64bit).

Philips SPC900NC (Philips webpage)
This camera is unfortunately not produced any more. If you have one: Lucky you, it has a decent chip and serves well as an overview cam.
The Imaging Source (Products)
Offers a wide range of cameras. The driver runs with several of them - give it a try and if it does not work we will fix it.
